Take Me To The Movies: Long Shot

“Long Shot”

This is my favorite comedy so far this year, and it’s a rom-com! Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen star- and yes, they ARE believable as a couple. She’s the Secretary of State running for President when her boss, the President, played by Bob Odenkirk, decides he’d rather make movies than be President. He was elected after playing a president on TV. Sound familiar? It just happened in Ukraine! This is an art-imitating-life satire in so many ways. It’s very raunchy but also sweet, smart, heartwarming and just the perfect movie for our fractured times. O’Shea Jackson, who played his dad Ice Cube in “Straight Outta Compton,” plays Seth Rogen’s BFF and Andy Serkis is unrecognizable as a sleazy media mogul. I laughed my ass off! Director Jonathan Levine joins me on “Sonstein Sunday” at 7:15am this weekend – I begged him for a sequel. Is there NOTHING Charlize Theron can’t do?!

“UglyDolls”

An animated PG’er set in Uglyville, where strange is special. Kelly Clarkson voices the lead "ugly doll" with Nick Jonas, Janelle Monáe, Pitbull, Blake Shelton and Wanda Sykes also contributing. It’s a celebration of what it means to be different. A message that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing. It gets 31% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The Intruder”

Michael Ealy and Meagan Good play a young married couple that buy their dream house in Napa Valley but the seller (Dennis Quaid) infiltrates their lives. It gets just 28% on Rotten Tomatoes.
