Hear Slash's New Song With Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators

The new single by Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators easily could have been an old (or new) Guns N' Roses song.

The chompy main riff from "Driving Rain" would have sounded right at home on Appetite for Destruction, though frontman Kennedy described the song in a statement as "reminiscent of vintage Aerosmith."

But Slash, GNR and Aerosmith were cut the same cloth, albeit a generation or two apart.

Slash recalled showing the riff to his band while they were on tour in New Hampshire supporting their last LP, World on Fire

"It's a cool guitar part we ran through, and from that point forward the rest of the song started to come together in my mind while on the road," he said. "We put it all together this year and Myles came up with a great melody for it."

The new album by Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, Living the Dream, is available everywhere September 21. It's Slash's fourth solo album and third featuring Kennedy & the Conspirators.

The latest European leg of Guns N' Roses' Not in This Lifetime tour just wrapped up. Slash and his band will tour North American in September before the guitarist heads to Asia with GNR.

Whether Slash will record new music with Guns N' Roses is still in question, however, GNR frontman Axl Rose recently indicated he is open to the possibility
