“Ant-Man & The Wasp”
The 2nd in the Marvel franchise with Paul Rudd returning (and co-writing) and Evangeline Lilly (“Lost”) in an expanded role as The Wasp. Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer return. Also starring: Michael Pena and Walton Goggins, who played the transgender prostitute in “Sons of Anarchy.” The “New York Times” calls it an engaging goof and The Associated Press says it has a funny cast & zippy action. One critic says it’s hard to love but also hard to actively dislike. It gets 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“The First Purge”
A prequel to the other 3 movies, which started 5 years ago. This tells the story how The Purge began- as a sociological experiment to allow aggression to be vented in one isolated area for a limited time with the goal of pushing the crime rate below 1% for the rest of the year. Marisa Tomei is the most well-known star. It gets 49% on Rotten Tomatoes.
